Using the right amount of tile adhesive is essential for a successful tiling job in the UAE. Too little and tiles de-bond in the extreme heat. Too much wastes expensive adhesive and increases costs. Large format tiles used extensively in UAE luxury projects require significantly more adhesive than standard sizes.

🇦🇪 UAE Tip: For UAE floor tiles larger than 600×600mm, always use a large-format tile adhesive with minimum 30-minute open time. Apply adhesive with a notched trowel using the back-buttering method for tiles over 600mm. In UAE summer heat above 40°C, work in sections of no more than 1m² at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tile adhesive is best for UAE floor tiles?
C2 grade (improved cementitious adhesive) is recommended for all UAE floor tiling. For natural stone and marble use C2TE (extended open time). Brands widely available: Mapei, Weber, Sika, Laticrete — all available in UAE building materials stores.
How thick should tile adhesive be in UAE?
3-6mm is standard for floor tiles. 6-10mm for uneven surfaces. Never exceed 12mm with standard adhesive — use levelling compound first for floors out of level by more than 10mm.
Can I use cement mortar instead of tile adhesive in UAE?
Cement mortar (3:1 sand:cement) can be used for floor tiles on traditional beds. Not suitable for wall tiles or large format tiles. Adhesive gives better bond strength and is easier for most UAE tiling applications.
